17. Knitting- and Textile Workshop 2018 | The Project
A total of 19 students from the Academy in Trier, the Weißensee Art Academy in Berlin, the ESMOD and École Duperré Paris as well as the Finnish Aalto Academy saw their ideas come to fruition at the 17. Knitting- and Textile Workshop from the 11th to the 18th of March 2018 in Apolda.
Matching the Andy Warhol exhibition „Avantgarde“ at the Art Gallery Apolda the theme „Tomorrow is so far away“ was implemented by the students in 7 regional companies with original and extraordinary designs.
The ambitious young designers worked daily until late at night on their collections. They worked in the following companies: Unternehmen Anke Hammer StrickArt, EKS GmbH Bad Sulza, Kaseee design & art, Leder Atelier Apolda GmbH, SL Moden, Strickatelier Landgraf as well as strickchic GmbH. They were able to draw from the many years of experience and hands-on assistance of the employees in their respective companies. According to the participating academies and professors there is no other project like it in Germany, where students’ designs “come to life” with the help of knitting and textile companies.
The gleaming highlight and finale of the workshop was the presentation of the works of the design students and in fashion show on Saturday night at the „Hotel am Schloß Apolda“. The moderator of this event was Wenke Weber from the radio station Antenne Thüringen. The Graffiti-Modelteam from the agency RÜBERG GmbH in Erfurt presented the collection of the students perfectly.
